Combination of clinical and biological markers

On the occasion of the 8th National Day for Neuromuscular Diseases, the international event Pisa for ALS brought together clinicians and researchers to explore innovative strategies for the treatment and care of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). A special focus was placed on the growing role of AI and digital health in advancing patient care.

Our PhD student Alex De Nardi presented his work with a poster titled “A versatile model for predicting ALSFRS-R score decline using longitudinal clinical data”. His project introduces a predictive tool designed to forecast the decline in ALSFRS-R –– the gold standard scale for monitoring ALS progression –– using a combination of clinical and biological markers.

This work is part of a broader research effort at COSBI to better understand how biomarkers like Neurofilament correlate with the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
